The Lila Cowl sports playful chevrons knit in a tube so there is no wrong side! It's just the right size and softness to keep you warm on cool days.
Lila is knit up using a cashmere sport weight Fun Size Bundle. There are lots of colorways to choose from.
Pick your favorite Fun Size Bundle color. This sample is knit using the colorway below called First Date.
- One sport weight Fun Size Bundle 100% cashmere. 8 mini skeins, 45 yards per skein, 360 yards total
- US size 5 [3.75 mm], 16" circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge
- Scrap yarn for provisional cast on
20 sts = 4" in St st
The Lila Cowl is worked in the round. Choose whichever method of knitting in the round that is comfortable to you. Use scrap yarn for the provisional CO. There is no need to weave in ends when you change colors for the stripes. To change colors cut the working yarn leaving a 2” tail. Using a square knot, tie the new yarn color to the tail snugly behind your last worked st. You will work every color twice. Check your gauge. You run the risk of not having enough yarn if your gauge is off.
PATTERNProvisional CO 98 sts. Using the first color, k one rnd as set up rnd. Join in rnd being careful not to twist stitches.
Rnd 1: (k1, YO, k5, sl2kp, k5, YO), rep to end.
Rnd 2: k all k sts, knit YO’s tbl.
Rep rnds 1 & 2 until you have worked 12 rnds total.
Break yarn and tie on a new color. (Follow instructions given in the pattern notes above.)
Cont as established, working 10 rnds per color, using every color twice.
Leave a long yarn tail to work kitchener for finishing.
Place provisional sts onto a new needle, thread tail into a darning needle, kitchener stitch the CO sts to the live sts just worked.
Weave in the ends.
Hand wash in cool water.
Lay flat to dry.
To add loft to your cashmere item, when almost dry, put into a garment bag then fluff dry on cool settings in your dryer for 10 minutes.
